Łukasz Leja is a Polish-born, Brooklyn-based figurative painter whose work explores queer intimacy, desire, and contemporary life through autobiographical images that bring classical painting into dialogue with contemporary queer visual culture.

Trained in architecture, Leja approaches painting through structure, geometry, and carefully constructed compositions. Working primarily in oil on canvas, he draws from art history while depicting scenes of sex, relationships, domestic life, and queer experience. His compositions are deliberately constructed, using perspective, proportion, and spatial relationships to give intimate and sometimes explicit subject matter a sense of order and permanence.

In 2022, Leja won the Tom of Finland Foundation Emerging Artist Competition and later completed an artist residency at Tom House in Los Angeles. His work has since been exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, and Paris, as well as exhibitions in London, Berlin, Amsterdam, and São Paulo.

Alongside his painting practice, Leja produces photography, artist books, zines, and printed editions. His self-published books combine artwork, photography, and personal documentation, extending his practice into a more immediate and diaristic form.
